Frequently Asked Questions

When does the Planning Board meet?

The Planning Board meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.

What is the deadline date for Planning Board submissions?

Applications for new projects are required to be submitted 28 days in advance of the next Planning Board meeting.

How may I contact Planning Board members?

The State of Maine's prohibition against Ex Parte communication requires Planning Board members not to have private discussions about projects pending before the Board. Members of the public and applicants may contact the Planning Board by writing them a letter and sending it to the Town Planner. The Town Planner will make copies for all Planning Board members and the letter will become part of the public record. Members of the public are also welcome to speak about the items at the public hearings.

May I look at the minutes of Planning Board meetings?

Minutes of the Planning Board meetings are available for review through the Planning Office. Recent minutes are available on our web site once they have been officially approved by the Planning Board.

Who is notified about the Public Hearings?

Town ordinances require that public notices be mailed to the developer and to the owners and to the occupants of properties adjoining such subdivision, private way, or site plan. Owners of property shall be considered to be the parties listed by the Assessor's Department of the Town of Falmouth as those against whom taxes are assessed. Failure of any property owner to receive a notice of public hearing shall not necessitate another public hearing and shall not invalidate the action of the Planning Board.

What should I submit with my Planning Board application?
All applications must be accompanied by a "Request for Hearing" form and a checklist for the type of project being submitted. (e.g. Site Plan, Private Way, Subdivision, etc.)  Please refer to our checklists for required submissions. Click here to view these documents or to download them from our website.
