Route 1 Sidewalk Schedule

Notice of Public Meeting
Route One Sidewalk Project

The Public Works Department will be holding a public meeting on Wednesday, March 13, at 6:00 pm at the Falmouth Town Hall Council Chambers to discuss the Route 1 sidewalk project.

The meeting will discuss the existing conditions such as driveways, drainage issues, roadway width, and preliminary design/options.

Generally speaking, the project consists of adding new sidewalks along US Route 1 through the entire ‘flats’ neighborhoods. The new sidewalk is proposed to extend from the new Martin’s Point Bridge multi-use sidewalk to the existing sidewalk on Route 1 at Providence Avenue. As part of the preliminary design, it has been realized that the most feasible location for the majority of the sidewalk is on the easterly sideline of Route 1.

If you have questions or comments and cannot make the meeting, please feel free to contact either Jamie Mason, Town Engineer, or Jay Reynolds, Director of Parks and Public Works by calling, writing, or via e-mail at: (, or

The Town values your participation for this project. Any input that you wish to provide is greatly appreciated.

(4/14/10)  The Town is currently acquiring existing conditions in the field in order to look at the feasibility of a sidewalk along US Route 1. The sidewalk would extend from Providence Avenue to the Martin's Point Bridge (over the course of 3 phases). A public meeting to discuss the project with the public will be held in the summer of 2010.
