Open Space Plan Implementation
In 2006, the Town Council adopted The Greening of Falmouth, an open space plan that describes a 100-year vision for our community and an action plan for reaching it. At the same time, the Council created the Open Space Implementation Committee, a subcommittee of the Conservation Commission, and provided funding to hire a part-time open space ombudsman as staff to the group. In November 2007, voters approved $5,000,000 over the next ten years to fund the acquisition of open space.
Above: The East Branch of the Piscataqua River joins the Presumpscot River at the northeast corner of the Town's River Point property. Just above it is the confluence of the West Branch. Put your canoe in at the Blackstrap Road landing and enjoy a great paddle on all three rivers. Keep your eye out for eagles, ospreys, turtles and lots of songbirds.
