Cathy Breen was elected to the Council in 2005. She grew up in Burlington, Vermont and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science at Tufts University in 1987. After college, Cathy moved to the Chicago area where she worked for several non-profit organizations. In 1994 she completed a master's degree in Education at the Univserity of Illinois in Chicago and began teaching middle school. Cathy was elected to the Oak Park Park District Board in 1997.
Cathy and her family moved to Falmouth in 2000. Cathy completed the intensive training program offered by Portland's Institute for Civic Leadership in 2004. She's been a leader in the residential master planning project in the Falmouth Corner area of Falmouth since 2004. She serves on the Board of Directors of Community Counseling Center in Portland. She is married to Jay S. Geller, attorney, and is the mother of two children who attend Falmouth public schools.
